Our sister store, Nevermore Gothic Boutique & Micro-Gallery, cordially invites you to the “Sew Your Heart Out” Gallery Show, featuring an opening night reception from 7-9pm on Friday, February 20.
Get up close and personal with more than 20 original clothing designs that walked the runway on the evening of Valentine’s Day during Nevermore’s first anniversary fashion show. All independent designers!
Some items will be available for purchase, prices starting at $35. Plus we’ll have some new Nevermore logo merch dropping as well!
Join us at Nevermore for an exclusive after-hours evening filled with drinks, snacks, and amazing handmade items!
The show runs for the next three weeks so even if you miss opening night, you can still stop by Nevermore during the regular open hours to check it out.
March Friday the 13th LUCKY Flash Day
Is it luck, or is it fate? We're giving YOU the chance to find out during our March Friday the 13th flash day!
There are two ways to play this flash day, depending on how lucky you're feeling:
For $150, pick any flash piece you want and get it tattooed in black and gray OR color! Perfect for those who wish to control their destiny. OR…
For the discounted rate of $130, you can test your luck and "get what you get" in either black and grey or color! Play our gacha machine to select a flash design at random - not sure about your pull? Try again for $5!
PLUS, some of the capsules will contain special four-leaf clovers—pull a clover, and you'll be able to select ANY flash tattoo design PLUS win an exclusive, event-only print!
And no matter which path you choose, all participants will also be walking away with an exclusive print from shop apprentice Noah Worcester.

Unkindness Art is pleased to present an ongoing nude figure drawing series, open to any and all artists (18 and over) who want a space to hone their life drawing skills.
Events take place on the last Wednesday of every month from 7:45-10pm; our March session is on Wednesday, March 25 here at Unkindness Art (2923 North Avenue, Richmond VA 23222).
This month we’ll be hosting a long pose session featuring a single model. These sessions are perfect for artists who would like the opportunity to create a more finished drawing, and would be well-suited for a variety of mediums.
Important event rules and info are as follows (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY):
The only way to reserve a spot at this session is to purchase your ticket ahead of time via this page; we do not have guaranteed tickets at the door and space is limited
Tickets are NONREFUNDABLE; ticket sales go towards paying the session model(s)
You must show current valid photo ID upon arrival (these events are 18+ only!)
The drawing session will start promptly at 8:00 pm and we are not able to allow late entry once the event has started—please arrive early!!
All attendees will be asked to sign an agreement upon entry abiding by certain privacy and etiquette rules for the safety and security of the models—this includes NO PHONE USAGE AND ABSOLUTELY NO PHOTOS DURING THE EVENT

In celebration of their one-year anniversary, our sister store Nevermore Gothic Boutique & Micro Gallery would like to formally invite you to join us this Valentine’s Day for “Sew Your Heart Out,” an evening of hauntingly beautiful fashion that’s sure to steal your heart away!
As part of Nevermore’s mission to support independent artists, makers, and creators in the Richmond, Virginia area and beyond, they wanted to create an event showcasing some truly incredible independent fashion designers—featuring over 50 looks from nine designers, from chainmail to gothic to elegant Lolita, “Sew Your Heart Out ” is sure to be a night to remember!
In addition to the fashion show, you’ll also enjoy FREE N/A drinks & mocktails, FREE hors d’oeuvres & desserts, tyromancy (divination via cheese!), a fashion contest with cash prize, professional red carpet-style photos, plus a chance to meet and mingle with the designers!

“I’m Not Okay”: An Emo Flash Day

It's the first Friday the 13th of the season, and we're celebrating with a very special, very emo, early Valentine's flash day! Time to straighten those bangs, pull on your skinniest jeans, paint your nails black, and relive all your teenage angst with us here at Unkindness Art. Because what's more emo than getting a new tattoo?!

If all slots are filled ahead of time, you can take your chances as a walk-in client on the day of the event, but we can’t guarantee we’ll be able to tattoo you in that case, sorry!

A $50 deposit is required to pre-book; these deposits are NONREFUNDABLE
We cannot accommodate changes to the designs unless noted on the sheet that a specific design can be modified!
All tattoos will be done at approx. palm-size
Placement on arms or legs ONLY please; any other requested placements will be at the discretion of the artist
Please bring cash to pay for your tattoo if possible—be advised that if paying with card, there is a 3% credit card surcharge on the total cost of the tattoo
All tattooers can tattoo any of the available designs, but we can only guarantee getting tattooed by a specific person if you pre-book a time slot with that artist—slots are limited so don’t wait to book!

Come celebrate the winter season with us at Nevermore, Unkindness Art’s sister store, by checking out the pieces in their newest gallery show opening on Friday, December 5th:
“The Longest Night” is a winter solstice-themed show featuring an assortment of handmade pieces by more than 20 artists, both local and from afar. You’ll find masks, wreaths, ornaments, fine art, and much more, all celebrating the dark midwinter season.

2025 Hallow-versary Party: NIGHT PARADE OF 100 DEMONS
It’s time once again for Unkindness Art to host its annual Halloween party—and you know we’re going to pull out ALL the stops for our TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY! We hope you’re ready for oni, yōkai, ghouls, devils, ghosties, and all manner of ghastly creatures straight from Hell—it’s time for the NIGHT PARADE OF 100 DEMONS. Inspired by the Japanese legend of the Hyakki Yagyō, when all manner of supernatural spirits and apparitions parade through the streets of the human world, we hope you’ll join us in creating our own demon parade right here in RVA!
We’ve got tons of Halloween fun in store for you:
Multiple DJs (both indoors and outdoors, take your pick!) and fire performers to get you in the spooky groove, courtesy of the Party Liberation Foundation (PLF);
Aerial performances and roving characters mingling with guests, courtesy of Host of Sparrows Aerial Circus;
FREE catered dinner from our neighbors and friends Auntie Ning’s Filipino Food (plus dessert?!);

We will provide seating for all attendees; attendees will need to provide their own drawing/painting medium, easels if applicable, bring their own iPads, etc.

Although this is a paid job for the model, cash tips are always appreciated!

Note: off-street parking is available in the lot behind our building on Brookland Park Blvd (the one with the raven mural!) on a first come, first served basis. If this lot is full, please park on the street rather than in any other private off-street lots or you may be towed!!

"Creatures of the Night" Gallery Show Opening
Unkindness Art is proud to be collaborating with our sister store Nevermore to bring you “Creatures of the Night,” Nevermore’s first ever gallery show, featuring original works of art by the crew of resident artists at Unkindness Art. Ghosts, vampires, monsters, and ghoulies of all types and all mediums will be on display for your viewing pleasure!
Come celebrate the opening night of the show with us; we’re holding a reception from 7-9pm on Friday, August 15 at Nevermore. Entry is free and snacks and drinks will be available. Join us for an evening of devilishly good art!!

See you at Warriors in Bloom at Agecroft Hall on Saturday, August 2nd from 12-5pm! We’ll be vending our wares (read: selling cool merch from our resident artists) in the vendor alley all afternoon, so stop by and say hi! This event is a fundraiser for the RVA Renaissance Faire.
