Structure Beneath the Surface: Armature, Rhythm and Force-Driven Design

$200.00

Join us for an afternoon seminar at Unkindness Art, hosted by renowned tattoo artist David Roque! Whether you’re a tattoo artist yourself, or a fine artist more generally, this seminar covers methods for breaking down shapes and lines to help you design and draw more confidently.

What: The armature of the rectangle is an underlying geometric framework built from diagonals, intersections, and proportional divisions that organizes a composition. At its core, you’re taking a rectangle and using its natural geometry to create paths of movement and points of emphasis. David will also cover how to draw more confident, decisive designs by drawing through and around forms to create more dynamic, intentional and aesthetically pleasing lines.

When: Sunday, June 14 from 2-5pm (3 hours), with a 30 minute Q&A session afterwards

Where: At Unkindness Art, 2923 North Avenue Richmond VA 23222

Who: With nearly 30 years of experience, David Roque creates custom Japanese, neotraditional, ornamental, illustrative and black and grey tattoos rooted in traditional discipline and executed with a classic but modern approach. Owner of Tattoo Halcyon, David lives and works in Denver, CO.

Cost: $200 per attendee; tickets must be purchased online ahead of time to reserve your spot.
